Nuno Sousa MD, PhD
He is a Full Professor at the School of Medicine, Universidade do Minho (Portugal), where he also serves as Neuroradiologist, and Researcher at the Life and Health Science Research Institute (ICVS). He is the President of AICIB – Agência de Investigação Clínica e Inovação Biomédica (the Portuguese Agency for Clinical Research) and of Digital Medical Center P5 (Portugal). Additionally, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience and serves on several medical education and assessment advisory boards (NBME, EuroBMA). His primary research interests revolve around understanding the functional and structural correlations mediated by stress and their implications for neuropsychiatric disorders and aging.

He earned his Medical degree in 1992 and his PhD in 2000, both from the University of Porto (Portugal).

He has held several prestigious leadership positions, including President of the Portuguese Society for Neurosciences from 2011 to 2015, President of the Scientific Council of Life and Health Sciences of FCT (Portuguese Science Foundation) from 2015 to 2017, President of the Portuguese Society of Anatomy from 2016 to 2018, and President of the School of Medicine at Universidade do Minho from 2017 to 2022.
