Stefan Schmidt PhD
He is a Full Professor of Systemic Family Therapy at the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the University of Freiburg (Germany). His research interests cover the interplay between health, spirituality, and consciousness, with a focus on meditation, mindfulness, placebo effects, parapsychology, embodiment, as well as systemic approaches in psychotherapy.

He studied Psychology at the University of Konstanz and the University of Freiburg, earning his MSc and PhD in Psychophysiology from the University of Freiburg (Germany). His doctoral thesis was on distant intention experiments conducted at the Institute for Frontier Areas in Psychology and Mental Health (IGPP) in Freiburg (Germany).

He has also served as a Professor of Exceptional Experiences at the University of Humanistic Studies in Utrecht (The Netherlands), an Assistant Professor of Transcultural Health Studies at the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Germany), and the Director of the IGPP.
